What do you need to know before buying such equipment as fishing reels

If you’re already here, then you’re thinking about fishing and looking for tips on how to start fishing. In this post, I will share my experiences and reflections. First of all, if you have already decided to fish, you should decide which way for you is closest to your heart. The main methods are float fishing, bottom fishing, spinning, fly fishing. And the equipment that is often used are the following: fishing reels, fishing rods, fly fishing rods, fishing bite alarms. I will talk about each fishing method in more detail below.

Float fishing

This is probably the most popular fishing method, starting with 90% of the fishermen now fishing. I remember when I was a kid, my grandfather and I were fishing for hazelnuts, cutting a branch with a knife at the end, tying a line, making an improvised float (like from a champagne cork), and walking to the lake. This method of fishing is very popular in the spring, when the ice in the lakes melts and the migration of roaches into the rivers begins. We can also meet many floats in the rivers in the fall catching the same roaches. However, during the summer, it is not such a popular fishing method.

What gear do you need?

  1. Fishing rod. The most commonly used type of telescope. The length of the rod is ~ 3.7 m. 2. Coil. 3. Line. The most commonly used monofilament line. 4. Floats, float brakes, lead hooks. 5. Bait. Mostly earthworms, jugs, corn, loaf. And you're ready to fish. All you have to do is choose the lake or river you want to try.

  1. Bottom. I can't say much about bottom fishing. I have only fished a few times this way. In my opinion, this method of fishing is the second most popular. This is a fishery that requires a lot of patience. During this fishery, fishermen use special herring fish to tame the fish. There are a lot of systems in this fishery for attaching hooks, herringbone. Choosing the right system has a big impact on the catch of the fish, but it is equally important to tame the fish properly.

You can fish for bottom fishing with practically all types of fish, there are systems and lures even for pike. But most often, when fishing in this way, the target is peaceful fish - bream, crucian carp, carp, and so on. Bottom fishing rod © Shutterstock What tools do I need?

  1. Feeder-type fishing rod. It is a rod with a sensitive limb that vibrates to give the fish a catch. These rods have a recommended casting weight. The higher the weight, the further you can cast the bait and hang a bigger bait. 2. Coil. Reels on feeders are usually larger and more powerful than on floats because the fish are usually caught larger. 3. Line. Both monofilament and braided lines are used.

Leashes are usually made of monofilament. 4. Scots. Herringbones come in a variety of sizes, and their choice also depends on the weight of the rod cast. 5. Hooks, swivels, brakes, and other means for tying systems. 6. Cozy. The bait is sold in fishing shops. There are many of its species for different seasons, different fish, and water bodies. 7. Bait. Mostly earthworms, jugs, corn, loaf <…>. 8. Chair. There is a lot of sitting and waiting during this fishing, so you should buy comfortable chairs.

  1. There are many more gears for this fishing, but for beginners, the gears listed above will suffice. Advice on where to fish to catch fish for a beginner - private ponds where you have to pay for fishing. There the fish are farmed, so the chances of catching the fish increase several times. There are also ponds where the "Catch - Release" principle applies. Record catches can be made in such a pond. 3. Spinning. I like spinning fishing the most.

Why spinning?

Due to the fact that it is an active fishery, during which many areas are covered in search of catch, many kilometers are traveled. Spinning can be divided into fishing in rivers and lakes. This fishing method catches predatory fish in lakes, i.e. pike, perch, starlings, catfish, and so on. And in the rivers, I usually look for sturgeon, lettuce, trout, salmon. Salmon and trout fishing stand out as a particularly patient fishing method, but it is worth it. trout caught by trout.lt fishing.

What tools are needed?

  1. Spinning. This is usually a "match" type fishing rod. The length varies from 1.8 m (small rivers) to 2.7 m (large). The boat usually uses about 2.3 m long spinning.

  1. Coil. The size of the reel depends on what kind of fish you plan to fish. 2000-3000 size reels are most commonly used for pike. For trout - 1000.

  1. Line. Can be both monofilament and braided. It also depends on what you catch.

  1. Letter. Leashes for pike are hard, usually titanium, tungsten so that the pike does not bite them. For flounder and trout - a fluorocarbon leash.

  1. Lures. Artificial lures are used in this fishery. These are - glosses, erasers, twists, wobblers. With a few different baits, you can already start fishing. The trouble is that the novice fisherman is so good at fishing in rivers, as it is advisable to have a boat that can be used to inspect most of the lake. An echo sounder is also necessary when fishing in a lake, especially without knowing the lake.

It is a device designed to identify the bottom as well as find out where the fish are flocking.

However, when fishing and from the shores of the lake, I have caught many pikes. Fly. This is a fishing method that has recently become especially popular. This method is most popular in North America. Fly fishing is distinguished by the fact that the weight of the net is used instead of the bait.

The working line here is much thicker and comes in a variety of shapes.

What tools do I need?

1. Fly spinning. 2. Coil. 3. Line. In the beginning, a simple braided line is wound, then a "fly line" is wound and then a leash is tied. 4. Bait. The bait for this fishery is fly. These are certain flies depicted on the hook by various means (feathers, threads, etc.).

Where to buy all this?

Here are many fishing shops, whose staff will be happy to advise you on what equipment to choose. The selection of fishing goods is huge, from the most famous firms to the simplest Chinese wobblers. If you have decided firmly which fishing method attracts you the most, then it is advisable to buy good quality gear (fishing rod, reel).

Good tools give a lot more fun because they are durable, but most importantly, we can feel the work of the bait well (I’m talking about spinning). A good fishing rod and a good reel will serve you for a long time and will help at crucial moments.

Poor equipment, meanwhile, is short-lived and can disappoint you at crucial fishing moments. If you haven’t yet decided exactly which fishing method you like best, then ask acquaintances to fish together, maybe they will lend you their gear.

If you don’t have fishing friends, then I would advise you to choose economy class gear that is made really good these days. And once you’ve tried different fishing methods, then you’ll be able to decide what gear you need.
