Has that thought ever crossed your mind? I know I can't just be the only one afflicted with the thought-of-human-existence syndrome (yes, I just made that up). If you have never questioned your existence or the existence of the human race, you might not be the overthinking type of person. You might just be a happy-go-lucky person and lives for the present. Lucky you huh. Well, let me spoil that for you right now.
When discussing the existence of the human race, the existence of the universe must be taken into account. The theories behind the creation of the universe consists of two types of people.There are firms believers of the Big Bang Theory and there are also firm believers of a higher power (God) theory. Without getting too much into religion and risk getting bashed, I will not dispute the believers of faith. Therefore, let's dive into the scientific theory behind the creation of the universe.
The basis of the Big Bang Theory basically states that the universe was in an extremely volatile state which caused particles to expand and create the universe we live in today. Ever since the Big Bang the universe has been cooling, but is still inevitably expanding ever so slowly.
The question is what triggered the Big Bang? It could not have been the forces of nature because before the Big Bang nothing existed, not even time. It was only right after the explosion did particles and the forces of nature we know today exist. Thus, in a "space" where nothing existed what would allow matter to form and cause this huge explosion. There has to have been something (or someone for religious believers) that moved beyond the limits and boundaries of nature and time in order to spark the creation of a universe where everything progresses and dies. Although time was not a concept before the Big Bang, why did the creation of the universe happen at that "time" or "instance?" If the Big Bang happened a second later we would all be a second younger than we were today and vice versa if it happened a second earlier. So again, why this pick this instance to mark the birth of the universe?
Could it possibly be that the creation of our universe is a reoccurring theme? Since all things follow a cycle of birth and death, would it be too farfetched that our universe or a similar one was created before? Perhaps, also, the instant the universe was chosen to be birthed also coincided perfectly with the creation of life. For example, a second later might throw the Earth a little off the rotational axis with regards to the sun or a second earlier might have caused the Sun to not even be created in the first place.
Then, after Earth was created and happened to spawn life, how were humans created from just atoms and particles? I understand that our very cells contain microscopic matter which makes us us, but how did they come from nothing? If we take on the theory that humans evolved from monkeys or a similar mammal, where did those animals originate from? There was never a given purpose exist. Things existed simply because of the chance of the Big Bang, but there were no laws structuring how things were supposed to progress or evolve. Therefore, there were and are no laws to dictate that humans should have been the species to dominate Earth. If you think about it, other mammals and insects perform similar tasks as we do. They work, eat, provide and relax. If you look at ant, they scavenge for food, report back to their Queen, and build houses to support the family.
Because of this, I believe really anything could have developed the ability to speak and communicate (in fact a lot of animals have their own ways of communication), but evolution favored humans the most. If anything, I would call our existence extremely lucky and favorable. Not even winning the lotto 10 times in a row would equate to the luck of our species.
As a result, the existence of human life is non-purposeful. This is not to say that no one has purpose in their life, but because everything was created without an agenda or rulebook per say, humans have looked for purpose.
