The Lost Toy

Take yourself back to when you were a kid? I know, its been awhile right? It just means you're old. We're all old. But back to the kid part. Remember playing with your toys? Whether that be dolls, race cars, Legos, action figures, etc. every child had that one favorite toy. If you remember that toy then you would remember all the fun times you had with it. Some of those times could include when you fell down while twirling your toy around in the air making buzzing noises, seemingly resemble that of an airplanes. Or it could be when you accidentally spilled "tea" on yourself while playing tea party with your dolls and teacups. Yes, it would even be those times when your parents told you to put the toys away and get ready for school or bed. Whatever, it may be, every child has had memories with toys, but the saddest memory of them all would be when the child lost a toy.

This is the premise of the new Toy Story 4. A lot of people may have seen the movie as something for a child, but I believe it was a movie for the young adults and adults now who grew up with the original Toy Story movies. Just like Andy in the original Toy Story movies, we all used to be a kid who would grow up to become a teenager and eventually leave to go to college or pursue some other work/education beyond high school. When we reach that point in our lives what happens to our toys? We either give them away, stash them away or throw them in the trash right? What Toy Story 4 tells us is that we shouldn't do the latter two options. Instead, once we outgrow our toys we should just give them away.

Why you ask? Well just remember the movie and the all the fun memories the toys brought you. Those toys could end up becoming memories other children can experience. If we just throw or stash toys away they'll just be sitting away, rotting. No matter how old they may be, toys will still have value to young children who are eager to play and touch just about anything. If you still think your toys are still too personal to give away, just imagine if you were given new toys to play with as a child. Maybe you were. When that happened didn't you just become more excited? This is the same excitement all children should be able to experience.

So if you want to reminisce on how old you have been, I suggest after work/school today, go back home and open up that attic or closet and dig up all the old toys you have. Then once you have stopped reimagining your youthful days, it would do good to donate them to a non-profit organization or just give them away to people you know who have  children in need.
