'Channel Orange' Remains Relevant 7 Years Later

This past week marks 7 years since the iconic Frank Ocean album, Channel Orange, was released. Since its debut on July 10, 2012, it has maintained its status as one of the most memorable albums of the twenty-first century. People and even companies have been posting about the album's anniversary all of social media. Complex Music, a prominent entertainment/music news company, made a tribute post on twitter with the statement, "7 years ago, Frank Ocean didn't just drop 'Channel Orange'—he redefined R&B music." And they aren't the only ones who found it worth while to dedicate a post to share with the world. Many people took to tweeting comedic memes regarding the anniversary of the album. Some made comments such as, "Me listening to Frank Ocean-," with a video of someone crying while holding a stereo. Some kept it more simple with a comment, "Frank Ocean is truly magical."

Now, of course, people are itching for a new Frank Ocean album and unfortunately there's not much telling when they will be getting one. He has released a few hit singles with artists such as Jay Z and Tyler, The Creator, but he has yet to release an album since Blond from back in 2016. Blond was quite the achievement as well with top-charting songs such as Nikes, Ivy, and Pink+White. Even with these songs that made it to the top on Billboards charts, they didn't quite have the same resounding impact as the entirety of Channel Orange. People seem to be okay with this though. Even legendary artists such as Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd, and Michael Jackson have albums' that were so incredibly groundbreaking that they could not be duplicated. It's not to say these artists, or others, are one hit wonders, it's that these albums were so outstanding that they simply can't be surpassed, even by themselves.

Even without an inkling of when Frank Ocean will be releasing another album, people await it knowing it will be superb. So, keep an eye out. It is bound to be released sometime soon. In the meantime, continue listening to Channel Orange. Needless to say, it will maintain its place as one of the greatest R&B albums of all time.
