The lake is a popular trekking destination. This beautiful trek starts from Mcleodganj and leads to Kareri village, then a gradual descent takes you to Kareri Lake. You will pass by lush green meadows, wild and colorful orchards, thick forests of pines & shrubs, and Himalayan birds and animal species. Kareri Lake trek is an easy to moderate trek which offers great views of the Dhauladhars, verdant pastures and sight of valleys below. Camping at the crystal clear lake is an amazing experience to cherish forever. The best time to visit the lake is in the summer and winter. Roopkund Trek, Uttarakhand

The most beautiful high alpine altitude lake perched at an altitude of  5,029m in the Garhwal Himalayas. Roopkund is also known as the Skeleton Lake, because of the collection of the human skeletons which are present on the banks of the lake. A trek to the lake is the most exciting and thrilling one. Roopkund lies on the laps of Mt. Trishul and attracts thousands of trekkers every year from all over the world. The trek starts from Sankri Village and takes you to through the lush meadows of Ali and Bedni Bugyal which are the famous campsites of the trek. Roopkund is surrounded by rock-strewn glaciers and snow-clad mountains. The best time to visit in the months of May-June & August-Oct. The lake gets frozen in winters. Roopkund is a tough trek of 38km and can be covered in 7 days. The trek starts from Lohajung and also gives an opportunity to explore the culture of quaint villages.
