Instagram & Screenshotting

Most people prefer watching Instagram stories over Snapchat stories now when lurking and stalking people online. In February of 2018, Instagram tested a screenshot notification feature that would notify others when someone they were messaging/DMing screenshotted their messages. However, by June of 2018, this feature was gone. 

Online trolls have often tried to photoshop fake notifications to make it look like Instagram has added new features that threaten to expose the secrecy online users seek through sharing posts and screenshotting them.   

If Instagram had kept this feature, girls’ group chats would be scrambling to save themselves. Every girl knows that their group chats are filled with screenshots of DMs from guys’ attempts to slide and make moves.
