Saint Padre Pio is one of the most popular saints in the Catholic Church. He carried the stigmata, the wounds of Christ that miraculously appeared on the saint's body.
Padre Pio's heart relic arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 on Friday.
Noting the sick people who went to see the heart relic hoping for a miracle.
Fr. Jojo Gonda, rector of the National Shrine of St. Padre Pio, said their prayer is for the visit of the relic "to strengthen our faith as a nation with all the difficulties that we are going through".
September 20 this year is the Centennial of Padre Pio's receiving of the Stigmata, and September 23 is Padre Pio's 50th death anniversary.
The heart relic will be in the country until October 26.
