Female James Bond?

The name's Bond. James Bond. Or is it..?

In recent reports, there have been rumors about Lashana Lynch becoming the first female Bond! Although there really is not much factual evidence to support this claim, just the idea has set off the opinions of many people in regards of if this should really happen. Some say that this is completely against of what Ian Fleming, the writer of the 007 story, had in mind when writing this character. James Bond is smooth, charming, and...male. You can't mess with a classic! Now, there's no going against the fact that he was written as a male. But many others are saying that a female character would be refreshing and new.

This also brought up talks about how this would be just another repeat of the recent revamp of Ghostbusters, which was originally a group of male scientists battling against the supernatural. The 2016 version with an all female cast was snubbed by many people who believed that doing so was a complete mistake and didn't make it better.

When The Hollywood Reporter asked about having a female Bond, former Bond actor Pierce Brosnan said, "Yes! I think we've watched the guys do it for the last 40 years. Get out of the way, guys, and put a woman up there. I think it would be exhilarating, it would be exciting.” James Bond movies have been going on for many years, 9 in total having the chance to play this charming British spy. Since James Bond is a purely fictional character, why can't we have a female Bond to change up the game? If written correctly, having a female play this role could open up many doors to new possibilities.

Although many do hold strong opinions about whether or not is suitable for the role of James Bond, it is still not completely realistic that this would happen. Because of the lack of sources, we cannot trust anything except for the fact that these are simply rumors. But it's something to think about. Why not spice it up a little bit?
