As you try your hand as a painter, you venture someday into doing a self portrait. So this is “me”, from a photo taken by Surf Photographer Russell Hoover. I was staying in one of the old tree houses on Tavarua, built in the early days before it was a resort.
My memory is a little weak, but this photo had something to do with this story. I got a phone call while working at Fire Station 1. It was Surfer Magazine wanting to do a story about the best jobs to have and be a surfer. Being a Firefighter certainly fits the bill, since we have a really flexible schedule, add being a boatman for Tavarua, and you have a feature article in an old issue that I have not seen for a long time.
