What did you feel when you discovered that you are an expectant mom? Were you jumping with joy or in the cloud nine? Without a doubt, you are tremendously delighted with the blessing coming in your way. But first things, first. You need to prepare for a lot of things ranging from baby clothing essentials to baby cribs and baby bottles to baby clothes to the baby’s potential room. There’s so much to do, and so little time! But while your attention centers on the baby, let’s not forget the things that you need during your 9-month pregnancy journey. First and foremost, you would be needing some clothes for yourself. Apparently, it’s easy to just grab any loose and oversized clothing that you can wear. However, that’s not how it exactly works. There are some pointers that you should keep in mind in buying some clothes so just read on to know more about it.
Timing
The moment that you discovered that you are
pregnant does not mean that your baby bump will tremendously grow overnight.
That’s just insane. Once you discovered that you are pregnant, you still have
some time to buy some clothes for yourself. However, pregnant women do not have
a standard definite time when they should wear mother-to-be clothing.
Generally, the expectant mom experiences certain signs to signal that “hey,
now’s the right time to shift clothing”. An apparent sign would be if you are
having a difficulty buttoning your pants, and you’re starting to prefer spandex
materials over anything. One sign is when the baby bump is starting to peak out
from your clothes. It’s good, actually! It means your baby bump is growing so
you need to start wearing mother-to-be clothes.

Size
Similar to the timing, the size that fits a
pregnant woman is not also the same across the board. At 2 months, a pregnant woman
could be size 6 in her maternity wrap dress. However, since one size does not
fit all, you could end up being size 4 or even size 8. The body of a pregnant
woman does not grow at a uniform rate with everyone else. The size varies, but
it is always important to keep in mind that your size depends on which one is
more comfortable for you. At the end of the day, it is best to just ignore the
size number and just go with whatever fits and feels right for you and your
growing baby bump.
Quality
The clothing design is one of the bases of
purchase of a non-pregnant woman. There are even instances when even though
it’s uncomfortable, some would still wear for the sake of wearing those
beautiful clothes. However, for a pregnant woman, it is important to test the
fabric’s ability to stretch and sheer. As the days pass by, expect your belly
to grow bigger. Hence, the fabric must be stretchable because undoubtedly, you
will inflate even more in the days to come. It is important to consider the
flexibility aspect of the clothing before buying it.
