The Tales of Zhang Guo Xin

There were once 3 nations in the mountains of the a land called Askima. All loved to fight each other. Over lakes, mountains, valleys, rivers, and hills. They were named Wai, Yuan, and Chen. They took Chinese names and language. In the Chen army, there was a general named Zhang Guo Xin. He was the highest and most trained soldier in the Chen army. The generals of Wai and Yuan always fell for his tricks. Now we go to the story of the Seventeenth War of Askima, where the Wai were defeated, and the Eighteenth War of Askima, where Yuan fell.

It was midday, and the Wai barracks were quiet. Guards walked up and down. Suddenly, one of the guards shouted, “Look! Flames!” and alerted everyone to fire on the peak of the hill. They heard war drums and saw more fire. They started panicking. They thought that Yuan or Chen were attacking them with an army of millions. They shouted, “We surrender, do not harm us!” and raised a white flag. On the attacking side, Zhang Guo Xin smiled. He had not actually brought any soldiers, just priests carrying torches and drummers. He shouted, “If you  really submit, leave all your armor and weapons at the city and join us!”. They did as they were told. The Wai were shocked that they did not find soldiers at the top, but priests! But they had no time to regather weapons, for Zhang Gou Xin had put them in chains already. Zhang Guo Xin had successfully captured a whole city without force! When the Wai emperor heard of this trick he said, “Bring the Chen siege!” and assigned generals. In Chen country, scouts brought news of the upcoming attack. Zhang Guo Xin told them to open the gates and play music, games, etc. Just in case the enemy did not fall for the trick, Zhang Guo Xin put dragons inside the city, a Hungarian Horntail, a Norweigian Northback, a Chinese Fireball, a Arctic Draco, and a Chinese Energy Ball. As expected, the Wai came. They saw the open gates and games and heard the music. They thought this was highly unusual and suspicious. They went inside the city. The dragons leaped out and started burning and freezing the Wai soldiers. All that were remaining sprinted away from the city as fast as they could. The dragons settled down to eat what they killed. When the general of the siege told the emperor of Wai what happened, they heard a drumming from their own drums. Then the watchman cried out, “Yuan soldiers from the northwest! Yuan soldiers from the northwest!”. Someone shouted “Shaaaaa! and another “Gong Ji!” and the two armies clashed. Cannonballs flew from the barracks, arrows flew from the Yuan. 1 hour later the watchman cried out “The Yuan retreat! Victory!” and the Wai soldiers withdrew from the battlefield.

Meanwhile, in Chen, the emperor, Chen Kai Tai congratulated Zhang Guo Xin on his amazing tactics. The emperor was Zhang Guo Xin’s master and instructor. Then, Chen Kai Tai showed Zhang Guo Xin a flaming arrow. He told Zhang Guo Xin to use it to waste the enemy’s weapons. So, near a Wai city, Zhang Guo Xin fitted the arrow to a bow, and fired at the city. His answer was 850,000 arrows flying his way. He collected them all and said “Thank you for the arrows, Emperor of Wai Jin Kai Lang! Ha, ha!” In the Wai capital, Jin Kai Lang was so furious he killed all those who did not escape him in time with the blade of his sword. He sheathed the blade and walked around the room. How could he be tricked like that? Did Chen Kai Tai and Zhang Guo Xin think they could win the war using trickery? So silly of them.

In the Chen capital, Chen Kai Tai and Zhang Guo Xin were having a good laugh. The Wai had fallen for their trick! And they had collected 850,000 arrows from the enemy! How stupid of the…
