Love in Action #3

In yesterday’s installment of ‘Love in Action’ I shared the health benefits of being in love. Now it’s time for a very special specific example.

A few months ago, I heard a story about two people in upstate New York that touched my heart. 68-year old Ester Fitzrandolph and 68-year old Danny Shokowski were each heart transplant recipients at the Rochester Transplant hospital in New York. After their surgeries, each one was suffering from complications and battling with depression. Their doctors were worried about their quality of life when suddenly each of them began to improve. Where neither had been interested in or participative in their post-operative care, suddenly they both were very interested.

They were not only interested, but they were happier, focused and their health was improving! Their doctors had no way to explain how or why they were improving. There were no medical or scientific reasons for their turn-around. But THEY knew. They had met one another while coming in for check-ups and had begun a relationship that blossomed into love. Yes, love still blooms at age 68!

Their love gave them a reason to improve because now there was someone to live for—a certain special someone that brought them love and happiness, peace and well-being. Needless to say, their doctors were amazed when they found out.

To survive, Ester and Danny needed new hearts. But to really LIVE, they needed sweethearts too!

Having love is good. Sharing love is better. Having a target, someone who’s a willing subject and who is also in love with you is best!

Reach out with love and see how much your life, and the life of a very special someone, will improve.
