Great North West

Well, today was my first entire day up in the Great North West of Idaho. It was a full day, to say the least. I am pretty tired so this post will probably be a pretty short recap of the day.

I woke up at 8:30a when my alarms went off, I stayed in bed till about 9:00a (I am NOT a morning person). My parents had stuff planned for the day and wanted to leave the house by 10:00a. I managed to get everything done in that hour, I got dressed, I did my makeup, I ate breakfast, got all my electronics together for the day and we left. We headed up to the local ski resort which is pretty close to the house, within 10 or so minutes to the base. We drove up the long hill, parked and headed towards the main lodge area. We ended up walking a trail and picking Huckleberries, for a good hour. Then we headed back down the trail towards the main lodge for the next part of the day.

My dad bought us lift tickets and we rode the quad chair up to the top of the hill, took a few photos and then walked to the mid-mountain lodge for lunch. I had the steak sandwich and let me just tell you, that was delicious!! So tender and flavorful, ugh I think it might be a new favorite, seriously was to die for. After lunch, we spend about another hour up around mid-mountain exploring and photographing some spots. Finally, we headed back down the hill on the chairlift to the main lodge, and on the way down saw a deer on the hill grazing.

Once we were down the hill and off the chairlift, we walked back to our truck and started the drive back down the hill. My dad then drove us to a local grocery store and we all got kid-sized swirl ice cream cones in a cup for a total of $75 cents (a family tradition). While sitting together and enjoying the ice cream we watched a guy in a Subaru drive up with the doors missing off his car... Umm okay, Mr. Jeep wanna be, lol only in Idaho! Next, we heading over to town to see the new shops. We decided to go to downtown. My parents told me there was a fire recently in downtown and I got to see the places where the fire had burned out stores and most of them had been torn down. I also checked out the local 'mall' and visited the new shops that had gone in. Finally, we headed home for the day.

My stepmom and I were pretty hot and sweaty from the day, so we decided to get into our swimsuits and head over to the local neighborhood only waterfront dock. I took my man's GoPro with me and I videoed the excursion. We only spent about 20 or so minutes out there because my dad was back home making dinner. We caught some good video footage, jumped off the pier, swam around and headed back for dinner. As we walked home a neighbor was outside and offered for us to pick plums from his tree and gave us two cucumbers to take home. People in Idaho are soo nice and sweet. Once we got home, my family and I all ate together outside, and then my stepmom and I headed off to one last activity together for the day.

My stepmom is learning more and more about photography and as a photographer myself, I give her tips and tricks. I'm not overly familiar with her camera but at the end of the day, they all shoot the same its just learning different interfaces. We walked back over to the neighborhood waterfront dock to captures some photos of the moon and the lake. The image cover for this post is one of the photos I caught from tonight. I am home now, I went through all the media I captured today, getting ready for bed and will be doing a ziplining tour tomorrow with my dad. As always catch you on the flip side...Ciao!
