What to Know About Air Conditioning Ducts

Most business establishments, especially factories, display metal pipes or tunnels usually at the the surface of the building. These tunnels will be the air conditioning ducts that transport air through the whole establishment.

The very first thing to keep in mind about these air ducts is that they only use central air units, and not with split systems.

Now, how does the air conditioning duct performs such wonderful function of keeping an establishment well-ventilated? To put it simply, it gathers oxygen from the outside the establishment first, deposits the air into a central air unit and then cools it. Air-con ducts could be made from galvanized steel, plastic coated wire frames, or fabric. The type of material used to create the ducts depends upon the wants of the occupants. Additionally, it's inevitable for the ducts to be dampened with water that is why many always prefer this property. However, ducts made from another types may also be becoming increasingly popular since some argue that steel ducts are more prone to air leaking, unlike plastic or fabric ducts.

The initial one takes into consideration and provides way of measuring the total amount of air wasted as a result of leakage. The shape of the air conditioning duct might also be the deciding factor for some clients when choosing one. Most clients prefer square or rectangular ducts as many believe that these may fit smoothly in ceilings in comparison to round and spiral ducts. On the contrary, round ducts should be much more preferred with regards to efficiency as this design allows the passage of a more substantial amount of air.

If there is a method to make round ducts fit perfectly into the establishment's ceiling, then that might be better. The final type, spiral, is preferred if the ducts will undoubtedly be displayed, that is, won't be enclosed inside the ceiling.
