When individuals decide to enter the housing market to begin looking for their forever home, they often have an idea of what they are looking for in a home. They have 'top home characteristics' that are important to them. Certain aspects are more important to have in their home compared to other home aspects. Some top aspects are so important to the individual, that they become deal breakers if a home does not have that aspect. So, is there such a thing as a perfect home currently on the market?
One 'perfect home' aspect example, is having an open concept floor plan in the home. An open concept floorplan allows visibility and constant flow throughout a house, which is why it has become a popular and desired floor plan for many individuals in today's housing market. What about having lots of natural light in your home, is that something you could live without? Would you prefer a house with large windows or doors that allow for a magnitude of natural light? Natural light is quite beneficial to humans though, not only helps keep the electrical bill down but it also is good for one's mental and physical state. Natural light gives the human body vitamin D from the sun rays which is absorbed into the body, boosting receptors in the body that in turn increases in many areas for the body. Additionally, natural light wards of depression, increasing one's mood and fights off illnesses. But what about other aspects that might be important.
What about finding a house that is in the right zip code? Is the zip code itself that is important, being able to have the pride to tell people you live in a certain zip code? Or does the zip code become an important part because it is known as a safe zip code to live in, so you're not constantly worried about what might happen to your home? Maybe the zip code matters to you because it's close to work or your kid's school. Is being in the right zip code a top 3 must have for you?
In my opinion, the number one important aspect individuals look for is the price of the home. Picture perfect, move-in ready homes come with large price tags, so people who have this vision in their minds of what they want in their home, often times, do not have the budget to support such extravagant homes. What is more worth it, the home that has practically everything from the vision board in your head, of a home that is affordable and will not be causing financial stress?
Lastly, 'perfect' homes come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. Could it be possible that the truly 100% perfect home is not really out there and it is more about the memories that are made within the home that matter more? Home's are a constant project anyways, something always needs work. Whether it be large or small repairs, my opinion is that there is no such thing as a perfect home, and it is more important to create memories. Do you agree or disagree?
