Is Astrology Real?

Every morning many people wake up eager to read their horoscopes. Will they have amazing days or will something bad happen? Maybe the person they have romantic interest in will text them back today - maybe not. It feels like as humans being we’re all searching for a purpose to our lives and ourselves, so we blame the stars [of all things]. Who can blame us though. When an unfortunate event occurs we try to find a reasoning for it - a ‘greater’ meaning. I feel like it’s bullshit. But at the same time - what if the universe is really trying to speak to us through these vague horoscopes? Astrology has exponentially grown in popularity among millennials due to the power of social media and how fast indeas/news can spread. Maybe humanity is just to narcissistic and needs to find reasoning to justify our terrible behavior when in reality maybe we just really suck

Astrology first began to flourish in ancient times, between 3 BCE and 1 CE. The ancient people studied the stars and correlated how they moved with how people behaved. The stars were also used to track ancient Gods. But, astrology then and now is much different - now there is technology and horoscopes and astrology in general has become so ‘basic’ that these readings and predictions can really apply to anyone because of how vague they are.

Astrology has greatly grown in social media presence in the last five years. Millennials often turn to astrology to search for a deeper meaning into their lives and for answers. People often see astrology as reasoning for their actions - both bad and good. At the end of every daily astrology post is usually a hopeful line - “but this too shall pass moonchild” or something along the lines of that.

I believe that humans are naturally narcissistic people and want to believe that they are better than they may actually be. Astrology gives us perfect excuses for our actions. And honestly, everyone always has every sign as a part of them somehow. Because of the sun sign, star sign, moon sign, birth sign (??). Basically every sign can apply to every single person. This doesn’t mean that astrology can’t be a fun thing for people to read or take part in. By giving ourselves excuses we seem to think that we are making ourselves better. I personally love astrology and love reading ‘sign threads’ on Twitter or reading my daily horoscope. Sometimes I can relate sometimes I can’t. I guess that’s the whole point of it though. These ‘readings’ are so vague so that we can all feel a sense of belonging and not feel so alone.
