Colour profiles guarantee a consistent and predictable print result on different kinds of paper. All you need to do is install the latest ICC profile variants and embed them into your art. In 2015, a number of color profile standards were revised and released by the International Color Consortium (ICC). Every device has its own personal color space it may display. That is the reason images appear different on a screen, poster or in a brochure. If it comes to printing, paper types are hard due to their distinct design and feel. The same print ink and artwork may look entirely different depending on the newspaper stock. Colour profiles goal to make consistent and predictable color results on various devices by accounting for the features of paper types and printing methods. To make this happen, the International Color Consortium (ICC) develops color profiles for different media. The ICC profiles can be downloaded for free (more about this later).
They are compatible with Windows, Mac OS and any other regular operating system. However, ICC profiles are normally not installed on your computer by default so that you have to do this manually. Additionally, you need to embed the ICC profiles in your layout program. We'll describe how to do that later in this report. ICC profiles are continuously developed further. The colour profiles applicable for print stores (PSO coated & uncoated) are available in an upgraded version because 2015. The most recent version 3 of the normal guarantees even better colour reproduction, particularly on natural papers. However, the 1 printing standard also specifies new requirements for measurement engineering, regular illumination and proof documents. To print on coated papers like art paper, Onlineprinters needs the PSO coated v3 profile. For uncoated paper stocks such as counter and natural papers, we apply the PSO uncoated v3 profile.
