5 House Cleaning Hacks for Busy Moms

Once, I heard a mom saying, “I don’t hate cleaning, I just like doing other things more.” I can all relate to this statement. Coming back to a clean house is nice but it’s only possible if we put in some effort in the morning or the day before.

Cleaning takes time, which we’d rather spend with our friends and family, especially when 8 hours of our day are already occupied with work. Luckily, there are some tricks that can help you minimize the time spent on cleaning and maximize the results. So, without further ado, let’s discuss some house cleaning hacks that will spare you your precious time.

Sometimes Cleaning is Organizing

If you want your house to look clean, you need to allocate some time to organizing. A couple of baskets, boxes, a little creativity and you have a place for your to-be-folded laundry, blankets or toys that create a mess around the house.

The organization helps with cleaning but make sure you stay smart about it. Not everything should be organized in boxes or baskets. For example, junk mail - we all get it and it’s better to throw it away immediately, instead of storing it.

Handwoven baskets are excellent for storing anything you need from towels to remotes, from laundry to keys and plus, they can be great additions to your home decor.

Wash the Dishes or Put Them in the Dishwasher

Dirty dishes - one of the most tedious chores around the house but an absolute make-it-or-break-it if you want to keep your house clean. If you don’t have a dishwasher then we recommend you wash your dishes right away because of a. It’s a lot easier to clean and b. It makes your kitchen look neat. If you do have a dishwasher then you can put the dishes there, so your sink and countertops don’t look dirty.

To make things easier for you, you can ask your family members to wash their dishes after they’re done eating. And this takes us to our next hack.

Delegate the Chores

Most moms already do this but if you haven’t started yet then it’s time. Once your kids turn 7, they are already capable of taking over some chores. You can’t ask them to do their own laundry or iron their clothes, but they can certainly fold them, pick up their toys and even wash their plates.

Given your children are not toddlers, delegate chores among them and your partner to make the cleaning process faster. Try to even make it fun and turn into pleasant family time. Don’t underestimate the teambuilding aspect of cleaning :)

Automate Your Cleaning Routine

We live in the 21st century - the era of automation, which reached the cleaning industry as well. Dishwasher, washing machines and vacuum cleaners were revolutionary and made cleaning a lot easier and more effective. But technology didn’t stop there and now the market has more to offer to busy moms.

There are smart gadgets like air purifiers, brushes for blinds and water filters that make life more convenient and even healthier. There are also cleaning tools that save you time. For example, you can get a robot vacuum cleaner that will take care of your floors and carpets, while you are busy doing other chores. If you don’t like cleaning your windows, then tech has got you covered - robot window cleaner. Just like that, with a little automation, you have a clean house and spare time.

Quick 15-Minute Morning Clean-Up

And our last hack for you is to appreciate the power of quick 15-minute clean-ups. 15 minutes in the morning or in the evening and you are good to go. The hard thing with this hack is that at one point, you start procrastinating. To avoid that, I have two tips for you - 1) combine pleasant with useful and you will be able to follow that routine for a long time. In this case, turn the clean-up into a workout. 2) Make a playlist of your favorite songs that add up to 15 minutes and play it while you’re cleaning. This will help you enjoy the process and also keep track of time.

I hope you found these hacks helpful. Put them in action and enjoy the benefits.
