Uber said this week that it was teaming up with background check provider, Checkr, and analytics firm, Appriss, to better track drivers' backgrounds and criminal histories, says Axios. The effort will, in theory, give the ride-hail firm real-time data about its drivers in order to improve the safety of passengers. Uber has been plagued over the years with high-profile incidents of violence and assault involving its drivers.
