Colour profiles ensure a predictable and consistent print effect on different kinds of paper. All you have to do is install the most recent ICC profile variants and embed them into your own artwork. In 2015, several colour profile criteria were revised and released by the International Color Consortium (ICC). Every device has its own individual color space it may display. This is the reason images seem different on a monitor, poster or in a booklet. When it comes to printing, paper sorts can be challenging due to their different colouring and texture. The identical print ink and artwork can look completely different depending on the paper stock. Colour profiles aim to create consistent and predictable colour results on various apparatus by accounting for the qualities of paper forms and printing methods. To make this happen, the International Color Consortium (ICC) develops colour profiles for various media. The ICC profiles may be downloaded for free (more on this later).
They are compatible with Windows, Mac OS and any other regular operating system. However, ICC profiles are generally not installed on your own pc by default so you have to do this manually. Additionally, you have to embed the ICC profiles in your layout program. We will describe how to do that later in this article. ICC profiles have been always developed further. The color profiles relevant for printing stores (PSO coated & uncoated) have been available in an updated version because 2015. The most recent variant 3 of this typical promises even better colour reproduction, particularly on natural papers. But the 1 printing standard also specifies new requirements for measurement technology, regular illumination and proof papers. To publish coated papers like artwork paper, Onlineprinters requires the PSO coated v3 profile. For uncoated paper shares such as offset and natural newspapers, we apply the PSO uncoated v3 profile.
