In the outbreak report, the FDA
stated that the company Jule’s Foods have also issued a voluntary recall on
multiple products containing cashews. At this time five cases of
Salmonella Duisburg have been linked to the recalled products, with at least
two of them requiring hospitalization.
According to the CDC, of the five
people that were linked to the salmonella outbreak three reported eating Jule’s
Truffle Cashew Brie before becoming ill, at this time that is the only common
product identified between the people affected by the outbreak.
Foods contaminated with salmonella
bacterium look, smell, and taste the same as any other but can cause an
