Living in California means dealing with the scorching sun and heat. With so many ways to beat the heat, smoothies will always keep me cool and refreshed. I used to love getting smoothies when I was younger and would always go to Jamba Juice. My go-to smoothie at any place is anything with strawberries and bananas in it. As I got older, I stopped buying smoothies so often. Why? Smoothies are expensive.
Recently, I got into making smoothies at home. It's really simple and easy that there's no need to spend so much somewhere else on a smoothie. I bought a small blender off of Amazon for less than $20, which does the job well. Amazon offers a wide range of blenders. If you only plan on blending smoothies, there's no need to spend so much on a blender. For my smoothies, I only use frozen fruits because it acts as ice too. If you use ice, it tends to water down your smoothie. The grocery store also offers frozen fruit bags specifically for smoothies. There are many different combinations of frozen fruits and vegetables. My favorite frozen fruit mixes are by Dole, especially the Fruit & Veggie Orange Medley. Next, in my smoothie, I'll add vanilla almond milk and yogurt. Regular yogurt or greek yogurt could be used depending on your preference. For people who like to gym, adding protein powder into your smoothie is a plus. The sky is the limit when you make your own smoothies. They taste great, refreshing, and healthy by providing nutrients.
In short, the easiest and cheapest way to make a smoothie is:
- Frozen Fruits
- Vanilla Almond Milk
- Yogurt
- Optional: Protein Powder
For some people, it might just be easier for them to go out somewhere and buy a smoothie. Here are my top places to buy smoothies:
- Jamba Juice
- Juice it Up!
- Blenders in Santa Barabara
- Cancun Juice in Anaheim
There are so many different smoothie recipes on Youtube and Google that inspired me to get into making my own smoothies. Beat the heat with a smoothie!
