Basil Imported from Columbia Recalled Due to Cyclospora Risks

Shenandoah Growers, Inc. issues a voluntary recall on February 8, 2021, affecting approximately 3,240 branded fresh-cut, packaged organic basil. 

After being informed of the potential contamination Shenandoah Growers issued a voluntary recall of the potentially contaminated product, as well as notified customers about the recall. No illnesses have been reported as of the date of the recall, thus far.

Cyclospora parasite can cause an infection known as Cyclosporiasis. A person who ingests food contaminated with cyclospora parasite may begin to experience symptoms such as severe abdominal pain, watery diarrhea, nausea and vomiting, body aches and fatigue, within a few days to a week.
