No, no one is actually raiding Area 51 (well, except these guys: https://www.cnn.com/2019/09/18/us/dutch-nationals-area-51-trespassing-trnd/index.html), but about 1,500 people are currently in the town Rachel, NV to party with "them aliens" at Alienstock! The small town of 54 has little to no accommodations for this tsunami of "raiders" to come and celebrate. There isn't even a gas station in town (the closest one is 50 miles away). The official Alienstock was actually canceled by Matty Roberts, the creator of the event
"due to the lack of infrastructure, poor planning, risk management and blatant disregard for the safety of the expected 10,000+ AlienStock attendees," but hundreds are still there partying on.
As of this morning, about 75 people have been gathered around the gate to Area 51, and one person has been arrested (not for raiding, for public urination). Last night, the band Wily Savage made a stage near the
Little A’Le’Innin Rachel and played for the brave campers.
The people standing in front of the gates are allowed to be there since it is public land, but if anyone does try to go beyond the barrier, the military is authorized to use lethal force. So, be careful trying to party with them aliens, make good choices, and thank the town of Rachel for hosting Alienstock. Let's see if this becomes an annual event.
