Traditional Bhutia Tribe Clothing:

The traditional dress of the Bhutia community of Sikkim is called kho in their native language and Bakhu in the Nepali dialect. Bhutia tribe comprises the primary section of the Sikkim's population, that is why during your trip you are going to see this dress a lot. It is a sleeveless dress that closely resembles a Chuba which a Tibetan dress. You can think of it as a loose clock that is fastened around the waist and neck with the help of a silk or cotton cloth. 

Modernization has hit every part of the country and Sikkim is no exception. That is why you will see that there are a few changes in this dress as well. You can find many young individuals of this tribe combining this dress with jeans and trousers to give them a more modern look. 

Thokro-Dum 

Thokro-Dum is the primary dress of the Lepcha community of Sikkim. This dress closely resembles a Karate dress as it has a long pajama that goes all the way down to the calves. This dress is combined with a cap and shirt called Shambo and Yenthtse. Another accessory that is often added with this dress is called Dumpra, it is a hand-painted multicoloured cloth. 

Dumvum:

The traditional dress of women of the Lepcha community is called Dumvum. It is a unique and beautiful variant of a saree. This dress is known for its silky smooth and comfortable design that goes down to the ankle. It is combined with a blouse called tago, a Tago is generally dark in colour and the colour depends on the colour of the Dumvum. Similar to other dresses on the list this one is also combined with a hat and belt.
