Ever wonder why a flamingo is pink? Seems like a bit of an odd color for most animals. Turns out, flamingos are actually born grey. Yup. Seems odd right? When flamingos are born, they change from a soft grey color to eventually a nice pastel pink. This is actually due to canthaxanthin, a natural pink dye found in the diet of shrimp and algae that they eat every day.
The average koala sleeps about 18-22 hours a day. And I thought I liked to sleep. Since there are 24 hours in a day, koalas definitely win this round. They tend to sleep a lot more because of their diet of eucalyptus leaves. To most animals, these leaves are highly toxic and poisonous. But not to koalas. These little guys definitely enjoy their fair share of leaves a lot. However, a "consequence" of this is that they need to sleep because their meal requires a lot more energy than the average snack. If I could be reborn as an animal, it might just be a koala after learning this.
Last but not least, the actor that voiced the character of Mickey Mouse married the actress that voiced Minnie Mouse. We can only assume that Wayne Allwine and Russi Taylor met at work and fell in love. The couple were married for nearly 20 years before Allwine's unfortunate passing. But their story definitely wants you to believe just a little bit more in true love.
