Describing Color to a Blind Man

Say you were the top salesperson in your dream corporation and you had one sales pitch to close. That sales pitch would determine if you would receive a raise of $200,000 a year plus a $1,000,000 check just for closing the deal. Sounds pretty sweet right? Well, you had been preparing for this moment a month in advance to make sure you minimize screwing up this opportunity. Despite all the planning, the night before this deal took place, you were as nervous as a child made to present an oral presentation for the first time. Needless to say, it was a long night.

Although you ran a 5 mile lap and played basketball with your friends, your body does not seem fatigued at all. As you lay in bed wondering why you don't feel the need to sleep and about the deal the next morning, you decide to get up and take a few sleeping pills. After stumbling around in the dark and reaching the medicine cabinet in the restroom, you manage to take out the pills. Being too lazy to turn on the light, you randomly reach out and grab the pills and pop them in your mouth before returning to bed. You lay in bed and close your eyes. However, you still can't sleep. You tilt your head sideways and make out 2:03 a.m. on the digital clock. You immediately become frustrated and start taking out the anger on the pillow, the sheets and eventually the dresser. You might have continued your rampage if it were not for the extreme pain you felt when you punched the dresser. Eventually, you calm down and manage to sleep.

As soon as you wake up from your slumber you feel a heavy drooping feeling from your eyelids. It was clear that last night's sleep was not great. However, you had no time to worry about that as today was your big day. You drag your half-sleep self towards the restroom to begin to get ready. Before you reach for your toothbrush you noticed that the pill casing you took last night was red pill instead of a blue one. The red pills were caffeine pills and the blue ones were sleeping pills.

With a look of frustration on your face, you immediately curse the pill with obscene words which will be left out of this narrative. After calming down, you accomplish your morning routine and with a sip of coffee you were on your way to work. Your work shift usually starts at 9:30 a.m. and it was approximately 8:30 a.m. by the time you reached your car. Traffic usually takes 45 minutes to work, but (conveniently) there were car accidents on the freeway and you managed to hit almost in local traffic. You pull up to your usual parking spot, eyeing that the time was 9:35. Late. Thoughts of being late, being fired and missing the opportunity of your lifetime all came rushing at the same time.

As these thoughts race your mind, you make a dash towards the office building and frantically push the elevator.  Finally, you manage to get on and inside was a fit man, around their 20s, wearing sunglasses and sporting a blazer with beach shorts. You don't give it much thought, but as soon as the elevator closes and the ride to floor 20 begins, the peculiar man says, "You a rush today?"

All you do is nod and say, "yes, its been hectic today." I couldn't sleep last night and there was an accident involving 5 cars on the freeway today. On top of that, I ran into nearly every red light on the drive here today. Today was supposed to be my big day too. I was going to be able to land $1,000,000!"

The man in the sunglasses simply smiled and replied, "Not all is bad. You managed to make it here still, but I do wonder how you were going to be able to receive $1,000,000, that is quite the large sum of money."

By this time the elevator's level had reached 8. "Well," you replied, "My boss was given a deal by a man who was blind. This man apparently was richer beyond riches and he was willing to invest in our company if one of us were able to explain to him colors."

The man in the beach shorts laughed hysterically and simply stated, "Well well, looks like we met earlier than expected." Baffled and with a look of shock on your face, you couldn't help, but straighten your suit, wipe the sweat from your face, only to realize that this mind was blind. By this point the elevator had reached the 20th floor and both you and the recently acquainted man step out to be greeted by your boss. After the similar spiel to the man in the elevator your boss guides both you and the gentleman to the conference room to discuss negotiations. As you sit down on the adjustable chair and wipe your sweaty palms on the arm rests, your boss says to you...
