Are You Really That Busy?

Americans work longer hours than most other nations, including a quarter more than Europeans (per Bloomberg), and they are often not shy about telling people. The phrase ‘I’m so busy’ is familiar to most American ears but using it recklessly and habitually could be detrimental to your personal and professional life. CNBC writes that for one it looks like you’re bragging and thus puts off people in your work and home life; second, everyone is busy, and could signal your inability to balance tasks; and, third, it could close doors when those around you assume you wouldn’t have time for that professional opportunity or that fun event.
