As of Friday morning, June 14th, 2019, USA Gymnastics has officially announced the names of the women gymnasts who were selected for the first annual, Junior World Championship team. These four athletes have worked hard to become part of the junior world championship team. The age group for this junior team is for gymnasts between 14 and 15 years of age.
Who are these young ladies, their names are Sydney Barros of Lewisville, Texas, Skye Blakely of Frisco, Texas, Kayla DiCello of Boyds, Maryland, and Konnor McClain of Cross Lanes, West Virgina. These four ladies were the top four placing gymnastics in the World Team Trials that were held earlier this week.
The Junior world championships will be held June 27th - 30th in Gyor, Hungary. Medals will be awarded to overall team score placement, all-around athletes and for individual events. All-around athletes not only perform well in their individual performance in a specific event, but they perform well in the top three in every event they compete in.
The tentative schedule for competition in Hungary later this month will start off on Thursday the 27th, with the men's team, all-around, and individual event finals. The competition will continue on Friday the 28th, with the woman's team, all-around, and individual event finals. Based on who qualifies in the men's and woman's individual events from the previous days, will compete again on Saturday and Sunday the 29th and 30th.
