This past Wednesday was my birthday! This year was a bit different than last year. This year was not much of a "happy" birthday. You see, exactly two weeks prior, we found out my uncle had cancer, and one week later, he died, so my family and I have been in mourning. Plus, this is my first birthday without my grandma. Normally, I get breakfast in bed (no matter how early my mom has to go to work), balloons, a card, flowers, something in the morning, but this year, I got cuddles from my dog (to be honest, it was very nice and needed).
While my mom wasn't in the mood for celebrating, my dad did everything I wanted to do, no questions asked (dangerous on his part). So I decided I wanted to go to Chili's for lunch, but they hadn't opened yet, so I said "let's go to Ulta" because I had a birthday reward! I walked around Ulta for a good hour, while he sat at the brow-bar, playing solitaire on his phone, then i got my birthday dry shampoo, and we went to lunch.
Lunch was great, the waiter was amazing, they gave me two free desserts (there was an issue with a coupon I had), then we went to the movies. I dragged him to see Downton Abbey (he hadn't gone with me the first time and I wanted to see it again) where, as you can see:
he absolutely loved it!
After the movie, he took me to Starbucks for my free drink, we picked up some pizza, and went home. At home, we had friends over to play May-I? and we played all night.
Overall, it was a good birthday, I just wish my uncle and grandma were here to celebrate with me.
